The China House and the Silk Roads Countries Non-profit organization

In line with the above, and with the aim of safeguarding this part of Brussels’ heritage over the long term, the China House will be revitalized with the following operating procedures:

Creation of the association bringing together Belgian and Asian representatives of companies and institutions sponsoring the project. Queen Mathilde of Belgium has accepted the honorary presidency of this association.

  • The Institution will be responsible for monitoring the restoration of the China House and its annex, its future operating equipment, its maintenance and its animation in agreement with the Royal Commission for Monuments and Sites and with the collaboration of the Royal Museums of Art and History.
  • The association will guarantee the operation and quality of the new use of the China House, based on the general theme of the Silk Roads, which have marked trade between East and West since Antiquity. In concrete terms, this means cultural, and tourist related activities (permanently open to the public during the day), diplomatic objectives and friendly relations between Belgian/European and Chinese companies. As an exclusive club, the annex to the China House will become the venue for exclusive meetings and events (conferences, meetings, dinners, cocktails, etc.), whether institutional or private.
  • This project is essentially inspired by the importance of the Orient in the 21st century in terms of trade, business, tourism and eventually peace. Being lucky enough to have a site of this quality in Brussels, which has been a symbol of Belgo-Chinese trade and relations from the outset, it is an ideal opportunity to maintain activities that reflect both the original objectives and current realities.
